St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
Since the 1970s, Tri Delta members have supported children's cancer charities. This philanthropic cause encompasses a wide array of charitable organizations and represents the collective effort of Tri Delta members and chapters across North America who continue to donate goods, volunteer time and host fundraisers for the research and treatment of children with cancer.
As part of Tri Delta's focus on children's cancer charities, Tri Delta formed a national philanthropic partnership with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in 1999.This partnership is a direct reflection of Tri Delta's Purpose in action as we help children live, scientists learn, and St. Jude lead in its mission of finding cures for childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
In July 2014, Tri Delta made the largest single fundraising commitment by a St. Jude partner in the hospital's history–pledging $60 million in 10 years. Because of this commitment, Tri Delta has received prominent recognition on the St. Jude campus with the naming of the short-term housing facility, Tri Delta Place.
A combined effort of our collegiate and alumnae chapters, along with the unselfish leadership of each individual member and our extensive network of family and friends, makes Tri Delta ranked as one of St. Jude’s top corporate partners alongside for-profit industry leaders like Target, Best Buy, Chili’s, FedEx and Domino’s.
Letter from our Philanthropy Chair
My name is Isabelle and I am the Philanthropy chair for the chapter. I had the amazing opportunity to visit St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. As you walk throughout the hallways you can see the impact that Tri Delta has left on the hospital. Whether it is the teen room, Patient care floor, the Speciality Clinic or Tri Delta Place, Tri Delta’s spirit can be seen within the halls. All of these are physical reminders of why we work so hard to support such an amazing cause. Danny Thomas, Founder of St. Jude Children’s Hospital said, “no child should die in the dawn of life” and we will continue to help Danny’s dream until no children lose their life to cancer. I was also able to hear personal experiences of patients which were truly inspirational. The courageous, young kids who despite their circumstances always found a reason to smile. St. Jude never makes any patient pay for expenses which allows the family to spend time being with their child in their time of need. My experience at St. Jude will be something I will always treasure in my heart and I will continue to work hard to keep Danny Thomas’ dream alive.
