Letter from the President

Hello and welcome to the Canada Delta Chapter of Delta Delta Delta!

We are among one of 141 Tri Delta chapters across Canada and the United States who are dedicated to living brave, bold, and kind! The Canada Delta chapter has been active at UOttawa for over 27 years, and is the oldest international sorority on campus! Since then, the Canada Delta Chapter has sought to assist in the development of making strong, passionate, and well-rounded leaders, all while establishing deep friendships and expanding networks.

I joined Tri Delta in the second semester of my first year throughout Covid. Tri Delta's values stood out to me and our commitment to philanthropy, sisterhood, academics, and social pillars were all so impressive. Tri Delta has been able to provide so many amazing leadership opportunities, EDIAB education opportunities, networking opportunities and has helped me grow as a young person in Univeristy. Since joining, and serving as an officer, I have found so much more love and support from my sisters than I could have imagined. I have found a community of people who make me happy, push me to be my best self, and are constantly there to support each other when we need it.

There are several reasons why I am so proud to be a Tri Delta member. Not only do I know that I am part of an organization of dedicated leaders, but I am also in awe of the impact our organization has on the world around us. In 2022 Tri Delta was able to reach our goal of raising over 60 million dollars in only 8 years- 2 years before our anticipated timeline, towards our philanthropic cause St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Chapters internationally helped achieve this and Canada Delta was involved in making this amazing contribution! We also have a local philanthropy Minwaashin Lodge, an indigenous women's lodge, which holds a special place in our sister's hearts. With events throughout the year such as cookie grams and menstrual product drives, we support Minwaashin Lodge so they can support others.

In addition to our amazing philanthropy, Tri Delta has a focus on academics, which is incredibly important to me as a University student. I have become very grateful that Tri Delta values our academics and that our chapter does whatever it can to support one another in our academic success. From personalized study plans, study groups, and our award system for Academic sisters, we assist our sisters in any way we can to achieve our academic goals!

Joining Tri Delta does not mean you only join one community. Rather you are able to step into a wider Greek community filled with people who are passionate about philanthropy, service, and networking. As an organization branched with the Univeristy of Ottawa Greek Council, we participate in many events throughout the year which connect us to other organizations and even have access to Greek life-specific Scholarships. Activities such as co-organized charity events, Mixers with different organizations, and collaborating with Ottawa-based resources and programs are just some of the ways we stay engaged and active in the community.

I am proud to say I am a Tri Delta member. Over the past three years, my love for this organization, and my sisters have grown and taught me what Delta Love truly means.  Tri Delta has been my home away from home during my university experience. From study sessions, attending Gee Gee sports games, and doing wonderful things for charity, to grabbing Coffee for an afternoon Delta Date, my university memories are filled with Tri Delta, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I hope to see you during our next recruitment season, to show you why Tri Delta was right for me, and hopefully you too!

Delta love,

Jordynn Bateman
