Letter from the President
Welcome to the Canada Delta chapter of Delta Delta Delta women’s fraternity! With currently 137 chapters in the United States and Canada, 18 837 collegiate members and 279 000 alumnae members, Tri Delta has reach, depth, and presence on almost every corner of North America. Canada Delta chapter has been an active force in the Ottawa community for just over 20 years, and we are proud to support a sisterhood that aspires to develop strong leaders, scholars and sisters who graduate with strength, poise and determination.
Entering into university as a wide-eyed seventeen year old, I was pretty intimidated at having to make a whole bunch of new friends and connections. It’s safe to say that after three years, I have not only broken out of my shell and made tons of new relationships, but I know that the reason behind this is the way in which Tri Delta and its members have always encouraged me to be the best version of myself. From bow-making sisterhood events to BBQ-ing mixers, the sisterhood and social aspect of Tri Delta have allowed so many of our members including myself to make meaningful long-lasting relationships within and outside the chapter.
As an international organization, the opportunities to meet and connect with other Tri Delta sisters are endless. One of my most memorable experiences was meeting an elderly woman at Barcelona airport, a Tri Delta sister who graduated from Illinois State University. This year, I am excited to be attending Tri Delta’s annual Collegiate Leadership Conference (in Dallas, Texas) with three other sisters.
One thing that I find really special about Tri Delta is its emphasis on academics. I have really come to appreciate our academic standard, because as someone who loves learning and achieving great marks, I value our study groups in the library and our academic mentorship program. I can honestly say that there has never been a time in the library that I haven’t seen a sister (even though there is usually way more talking than studying!!)
Before Tri Delta I was never very involved in philanthropic efforts, and this is one aspect of a well-rounded life that Tri Delta introduced to me. Over the three years of being a sister I have become extremely passionate about St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, our fraternity-wide philanthropic partner and Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario, our local philanthropy. Over the past three years we have expanded our philanthropic efforts to include Tri Delta “Triple Play,” a kickball tournament, which has now been running two years, as well as improving our Delta House of Pancakes event to be Ottawa community-wide hosted in city hall.
Over my past three years as a sister of Tri Delta, I am lucky to have found an organization that has so much to offer a young university woman still finding her footing in life but wanting to be part of something much bigger than herself! I welcome you to come on out and learn more about Tri Delta; hopefully we’ll see you soon!
Delta Love and Mine,
